Attending an International Workshop at VNU University of Languages and International Studies

  The Korean Studies Promotion Service attended the “First International Workshop on the Current Status and Prospects of Korean Studies Education and Research in Vietnam” at the Vietnam National University (VNU) of Languages and International Studies on November 27, 2019.

  VNU University of Languages and International Studies was not only selected to participate in the Core University Program for Korean Studies in 2019, but also devised plans to strengthen their Korean Studies program by opening courses on Korean Studies, providing training for their faculty, and introducing a master’s degree program, etc. The university’s main goal is to build the first base for Korean Studies education and research in Vietnam so that Korean Studies can take hold and flourish in the country.

  The international workshop was part of the Core University Program and it brought together scholars from various Vietnamese institutions to discuss the current status and prospects of Korean Studies education and research in the country. There was active support for VNU University of Languages and International Studies goal of systemizing Korean Studies education and research, and there was an opportunity for the researchers in attendance to consider “Measures for Utilizing Smart Classrooms in Korean Studies Education” and the educational environment with Professor Kim Je-uk of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.
