한국학진흥사업단은 2019년 4월 11~14일 로마에서 개최된 제29회 유럽한국학회(AKSE)에 참석하여 한국학진흥사업 설명회를 개최하였다. 이번 국외 사업설명회는 약 40여 명의 국내외 연구자들이 참석한 가운데 글로벌한국학 사업을 중심으로 사업 설명을 진행하고 연구자들과 질의응답 하는 시간을 가졌다.

또 이번 학술대회에서 축사를 한 한국학중앙연구원 안병욱 원장은 사업단 일원과 AKSE 개최지인 Università di Roma La Sapienza를 방문하여 유럽 및 이탈리아 한국학 동향 전반에 관해 논의하는 자리를 가졌다. 사피엔자 대학은 2013년부터 3년 동안 한국학진흥사업단의 해외한국학 씨앗형 사업을 수행하였으며, 이 사업을 통해 아시아학과에 한국학 커리큘럼을 단독으로 개설하는 성과를 이루어냈다.

그 외에도 University of California, San Diego(해외한국학 중핵대학 육성사업), The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Babes-Bolyai University(해외한국학 씨앗형 사업)의 연구책임자와 사업 수행 상황을 비롯해 애로사항 등을 상호 협의하는 자리를 가졌다.

The Korean Studies Promotion Service Holds an Information Session at the Twenty-ninth AKSE Conference

The Korean Studies Promotion Service (KSPS) was in attendance at the Twenty-ninth Conference of the Association of Korean Studies in Europe (AKSE) from April 11 to 14, 2019 in Rome and held an information session.

Roughly forty researchers from Korea and elsewhere attended this international information session. The session mainly focused on introducing the Global Korean Studies programs and included time for Q&A.

Additionally, Academy of Korean Studies President Ahn Byung-ook along with KSPS staff visited Università di Roma La Sapienza, the host of this year’s AKSE conference, to discuss trends in Korean Studies in Europe and Italy during the first half of the year. Between 2013 and 2016, the Università di Roma La Sapienza was part of the KSPS Seed Program for Korean Studies, and as part of this project Korean Studies curriculum was moved out of Asian Studies and an independent Korean Studies department was established.

Also, while in Rome, KSPS staff met with researchers from the University of California, San Diego (Core University Program for Korean Studies) as well as The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Babes-Bolyai University (Seed Program for Korean Studies) to consult about issues and difficulties in the implementation of their projects.
