Holding of the Thirtieth Korean Studies Promotion Service Committee

The Korean Studies Promotion Service held a meeting of the Thirtieth Korean Studies Promotion Service Committee on January 22, 2019. The Committee deliberated the implementation plans of the Korean Studies Promotion Service for 2019. This year, in the area of international programs, some application conditions for project directors in the Laboratory Program for Korean Studies have been removed and restrictions on the number of projects that can be funded in the Core University Program for Korean Studies have also been scratched. For domestic programs, it has been decided that the character of the Korean Studies book series should be more academic in nature and support is to be given mainly to individual research so as to continue production of excellent and creative works. Also, in some projects, calls for designated topics have been introduced so as to contribute to the setting of the Korean Studies research agenda. Additionally, the annual evaluation has be replaced with an annual inspection to simplify the administration of research. The deliberations of project committees have been reviewed by the Ministry of Education and reflected in the implementation plans of new projects in 2019.
