안녕하십니까?

2019년 기해년(己亥年) 새해가 밝았습니다. 

새해를 맞이하여 한국학진흥사업단 일동이 연구자님께 인사드리고자 합니다. 

 

한국학진흥사업단이 출범한 지 이제 11년이 되었습니다. 그동안 사업단은 한국학의 특성과 장점을 살릴 수 있는 연구 제도와 환경을 만들어 가고자 많은 노력을 기울여 왔습니다. 그중에서도 국내외 한국학 연구사업에 장기연구 및 공동연구 제도를 획기적으로 도입하여 국내 학문기반 조성 및 연구 활성화와 아울러 세계 곳곳에 한국학이 뿌리내리도록 하였습니다. 이제 한국학은 한국을 넘어 전 세계 학술 패러다임으로 정착하는 중입니다. 사업단은 한국학의 확산과 심화를 위해 앞으로도 최선을 다해 노력할 것입니다.      

 

사업단은 2018년도에 신규과제 32개를 포함하여 총 155개의 과제를 지원하였습니다. 작년에는 국내 사업 지원 규모가 다소 축소되었습니다만, 2019년에는 사정이 나아질 것으로 판단합니다. 곧 1월 말에 공고될 신규사업 시행계획에 연구자님께서 많은 관심을 가져주시기를 바라겠습니다.      

 

교육부와 학계는 최근 인문사회 분야의 중장기 학술정책 수립의 필요성에 대해 크게 공감하고 있습니다. 이공 분야와 다르게 인문사회 분야는 연구의 자율성이 상대적으로 크며 연구성과도 단기간에 축적되기 어려워 그간 중장기 계획을 실행하기가 쉽지 않았습니다. 그러나 날로 드높아가는 한국의 위상과 함께 그에 걸맞은 학문지식의 역할을 고민해 볼 때, 앞으로 한국학이 수행할 역할은 더욱 크고 중대해질 것이므로 사업단도 한국학을 위한 견실한 중장기 정책을 수립해 가려고 합니다.  

 

한국학진흥사업단이 명실 공히 한국학의 세계적 연구지원 거점이 되는 그때까지 연구자님의 많은 성원과 아울러 끊임없는 질정을 부탁드립니다. 

     

2019년 기해년은 더욱 건강하시고, 행운과 기쁨이 가득한 한 해가 되시기를 기원합니다. 사업단 일동도 더욱 책임감 있는 자세로 연구자님을 찾아뵙도록 하겠습니다.

New Year Message

Greetings!

The end of 2018 has arrived so quickly. And we hope you have had a meaningful year. This year was the eleventh in the history of the Korean Studies Promotion Service (KSPS).

Over the years, the KSPS has strived to produce an environment and research institutions conducive to the characteristics and strengths of Korean Studies. Most of all, the KSPS has sought to advance groundbreaking long-term and joint research projects both at home and abroad to create and energize the domestic research base and lay down the roots for Korean Studies around the globe. Today, Korean Studies has moved beyond Korea to become a research paradigm throughout the world. The KSPS will continue to work hard to expand and deepen Korean Studies research.

In 2018, the KSPS is supporting a total of 155 projects, including thirty-two new projects. Funding for domestic Korean projects this year was reduced somewhat, but we expect the circumstances to improve in 2019. We hope many researchers will participate in our call for new research project implementation plans in January.

The Ministry of Education and academia truly sympathize with the need for a long-term academic policy in the humanities and social sciences. The humanities and social sciences are different from the natural sciences in that research in these fields has greater autonomy and accumulating a large quantity of results in a short period is quite difficult, making long-term planning problematic. However, with the expectation that Korea’s status will grow day by day and the concomitant role of suitable academic knowledge for that status, we believe Korean Studies will fulfill a larger and more significant position. To prepare for this, the KSPS is steadily devising long-term plans to prepare for this trend. We courteously request your continued support and honest appraisal to help make the KSPS a base for Korean Studies research support around the world in both name and reality.

We hope that 2019 is a year full of fortune and happiness for you and that you remain healthy during the gihae year. We here at the KSPS will do our best to take responsibility in all our interactions with our partner researchers.
