Holding of a Conference for the Seed Program for Korean Studies
2018년 10월 3~5일 한국학진흥사업단 주관 해외한국학 씨앗형 사업 협의회가 알파라비 카자흐국립대(Al-Farabi Kazakh National University)에서 개최되었다. 한국학중앙연구원 안병욱 원장, 한국학진흥사업단 구난희 단장 및 한국학진흥사업단 4명을 비롯해 카자흐국립대 제1부총장, 전승민 알마티 총영사, 남현우 알마티 한국교육원장, 염나탈리아 카자흐국립대 동방학부 극동학과장 및 이병조 한국학과 교수 그리고 해외한국학 씨앗형 사업 연구자 등 총 40여 명이 협의회에 참가하였다. 협의회는 해당 지역의 씨앗형 사업 현황과 특성에 관한 16명 연구자들의 발표로 진행되면서, 특히 연구 중심의 한국학 기반 강화, 현지인 교원 및 연구인력 양성을 통한 한국학의 현지화와 토착화, 한국학 개념 정립, 한국학 비교연구 촉진, 지역권 네트워킹 구축, 씨앗-중핵 사업을 연결하는 중간 프로그램 신설, 해외한국학 사업 협의회 정례화 등 유익한 쟁점들이 논의된 뜻깊은 자리였다.
Holding of a Council for the Seed Program for Korean Studies
A council for the Seed Program for Korean Studies, which is organized by the Korean Studies Promotion Service of the Academy of Korean Studies, was held from October 3 to October 5, 2018 at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. There were roughly 40 attendees including the President of the Academy of Korean Studies (AKS) Byung-ook Ahn, KSPS Director Nan-hee Ku, and four other representatives of the Korean Studies Promotion Service. Other attendees include the First-Vice President of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the Almaty Consul General Seungmin Jeon, the Director of the Almaty Korean Education Center Hyeon-u Nam, the Dean of the Far-East Studies Department in the School of Eastern Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Natalia Yeom, and Korean Studies Professor Byeong-jo Lee, among other participants from the Seed Program for Korean Studies. During the conference, sixteen researchers gave presentations on the status and nature of their projects under the Seed Program for Korean Studies. It was also a meaningful opportunity to discuss various valuable issues such as how to strengthen the foundation of Korean Studies around research, localizing and naturalizing Korean Studies through training local teachers and researchers, defining Korean Studies concepts, promoting comparative studies within Korean Studies, building regional networks, founding an intermediary program to bridge the Seed Program for Korean Studies and the Core University for Korean Studies Program, and holding councils for the Seed Program for Korean Studies program on a regular basis.
