한국학진흥사업단 김종명 단장은 2017년 10월 12일(목)부터 10월 16일(월)까지 러시아 상트페트르부르크 국립대학(Saint-Petersburg State University)을 방문하였다. 러시아는 유럽 최초의 한국학과가 개설된 나라이며, 상트페트르부르크 국립대학은 2017년에 러시아에서 두 번째로 한국학과가 독립 신설된 대학이다. 김종명 단장은 상트페트르부르크 국립대학 주최 한국학 탄생 120주년 기념 국제 컨퍼런스에 참가하여 축사를 하였다.
상트페트르부르크 국립대학은 2010년에 이어 2016년에 해외한국학 중핵대학 육성사업에 선정되었다. 현재 수행중인 사업에서는 한국학 연구ㆍ교육을 아시아 전공이 아닌 분야로 그 필드를 확장하면서, 아울러 한국학과 관련하여 본 대학의 오랜 경험 축적을 토대로 북부 및 동부 유럽의 대학들과 한국학 네트워크를 구축하는 것을 목표로 한다. 동양학부, 사회학부, 국제학부를 중심으로 수행되고 있는 본 대학의 한국학 교육 및 연구 프로그램을 컨설팅하면서 김종명 단장은 러시아의 한국학을 효율적으로 지원할 수 있는 방안을 논의하고, 아울러 사업 인프라 현황도 점검하였다.
Participation in the International Conference for the 120 Year Anniversary of Korean Studies and Holding of Consultation Meetings for the Core University Program for Korean Studies at Saint Petersburg State University
Director Jong-Myung Kim of the Korean Studies Promotion Service visited Saint Petersburg State University from Thursday, October 12 to Monday, October 16, 2017. Russia was the first European country to establish a Korean Studies department, and Saint Petersburg State University was the second in Russia to establish an independent Korean Studies Department in 2017. Director Jong-Myung Kim attend the International Conference entitled “120th Anniversary of Korean Studies in Saint Petersburg University” and delivered congratulatory remarks.
Saint Petersburg State University was selected to participate in the Core University Program for Korean Studies in 2010 and again in 2016. During the current program, Saint Petersburg State University aims to enlarge Korean Studies education and research activities in non-Asian Studies faculties and institutions and use its amassed experience to establish a Korean Studies network among universities in Northern and Eastern Europe. While holding the consulting meeting on the Korean Studies program, Director Jong-Myung Kim discussed ways to effectively support Korean Studies in Russia and reviewed the current state of program infrastructure.
